Dalloway Terrace at the Bloomsbury in London

The Bloomsbury Hotel in London knows how to make a great theme restaurant, although I feel that’s the wrong word… pretty hideaway? that’s better hahahahah. The Bloomsbury Hotel in London knows how to make a pretty hideaway in the middle of busy London.

The Dalloway Terrace – in Winter

I would venture a guess and say this is one of the most instagrammable places to eat in London. Its not hard to see why is it?

Come Summer or Winter they make it cosy on the terrace of the Bloomsbury. I’m lucky enough to live close enough to London to pop over on a whim but far enough away to enjoy the countryside.

The Dalloway Terrace – in Summer

Never have I seen so much effort and thought go into a restaurant decor before. Sure, menus change with the seasons, but the interior? This place really is a dream!

The Coral Room

We waited in the Coral room for our table to be ready on one of my winter visits. It’s gorgeous and well…coral hahahah. Even the ladies room is immaculate and on the way there walking through the hotel they have lovely little hideaway rooms for guests to relax in.

I’d recently seen the ‘A Simple Favour’ movie and of course needed to see what all the fuss was about over the Martini with a Twist drink (don’t judge! it’s a really good film – Blake Lively fashion in that movie is just Devine!) so of course I ordered one… ok judge me hahaha

The Drinks

Martini with a Twist in the Coral Room

I must admit, I’m not a heavy drinker. I enjoy the odd glass of wine or two on rare occasions. Pimms is my drink of choice though but it’s a pain to make it properly at home. But on the bright side it is like a drink and lunch all in one with the chopped up fruit it has in it.

I’m not even sure if this was a vodka martini or a gin martini… that’s how attentive I was hhahhaha OK, honest opinion; Nah… not for me. I’m happy I tried one at least so that’s something 🙂

I have asked them to make me the prettiest drink (off menu) before too and they are always more than happy to oblige. They are very good like that here. Nothing seems to be too much trouble.

Now lets get on with the show shall we, the mouthwatering food!

My first Confession as a Bruncher

My husband and I visited on a weekday late afternoon after a long day of shopping in the rain. We ordered from the al a carte menu. Yes, I confess, despite the name of the blog I don’t always brunch. Often, but not always hahahah

I’m at that stage in life where I love being at home and being cosy on the sofa binge watching the latest on whatever streaming service we have in the evening. Brunch is so much easier than dinner and because I love to cook I’ll take care of that myself 🙂

The Food

Right, the food…wait, let me just wipe away the drooling which is currently happening at just the thought of their truffle fries and truffle Mac n cheese. Yep – I have a thing for truffle!

I had scallops for my starter. If scallops are on the menu I always order it. I’ve had some awful ones in my time and this was absolutely not one of those. These just seemed to melt in your mouth and the sauce was so complementary that I was in tastebud heaven.

My husband and I had the same main-course of Venison which was out of this world tasty. I chose our side of Truffle Mac n Cheese because hellloooo! Macaroni Mmmmm Cheese, melted Mmmmmmmm and truffle Mmmmmmmmm

Sure, you might think it didn’t go well with the venison but I tell ya – Mac n Cheese is the way forward Hahahahaha

During my summer visit with my friend we hit the brunch mimosas and I of course had the Avocado Toast like the predictable woman I am and my friend had the Green Shakshuka which she really enjoyed.

It was nice but I wouldn’t say this is the best avocado on toast I’ve had and I would probably order something different off the brunch menu next time.

Truffle Fries with Parmesan

I also had some truffle fries which you can see I thoroughly tucked in to 🙂

The Verdict

  • The food is lovely and personally I find it not too expensive for London
  • The atmosphere is relaxed but be prepared – there are bloggers and instagrammers (like myself) taking pictures of everything
  • The service isn’t amazing but the staff make up for it with their friendliness
  • An automatic charge /tip is added to the bill

There we have it, my first blog post. I think that went rather well don’t you? I sure enjoyed writing it and lets not forget how much I enjoyed doing the research for this post. I mean it was though, I’m not going to lie hahahahah.
